Heroecol Vintage Dress

This vintage inspired dress from Heroecol is really cute. I love vintage dresses They are cut in a way that is fun and flirty as well as flattering for people of all shapes and sizes. This dress actually looks a lot better on me than it does in the pictures on the amazon.com listing. It is made from a thick cotton fabric. The fabric is not stiff, but definitely thicker and more sturdy than most modern dresses. There is a nice collar and a V-Neck, almost wrap style neckline. The dress comes with a matching wide fabric belt. The belt can be tied in the front in a pretty bow or in the back. I am terrible at tying pretty bows so I sometimes get frustrated with it and tie it in the back so I don’t have to look at my bad tying job. This dress does not have belt loops so if you choose not to wear the belt you can, but the belt really helps to accentuate the waist line. The dress does have an invisible zipper on one side. The zipper is not very long. It is just long enough to give enough space to get in and out of the dress. The sleeves go to just above my elbows. Each sleeve has buttons on the cuff. These buttons are merely decorative.

The skirt is larger and fuller than most modern dresses. It can be worn with or without a petticoat depending on how full you want the skirt to look. I personally prefer it with a petticoat. I think the petticoat accentuates the waist and gives an old fashioned and classy look. I have a 22-inch petticoat and it works perfectly with this dress.

I am about 5’6.5” tall and weigh about 135 pounds. I ordered it in a medium. The medium fits well. It is slightly larger in the waist than I would like, but if it was any smaller I would not be able to get it on and off easily. Because the zipper is short and on the side, between the armpit and the waist, it is a little harder to get on and off than a zipper down the back would be. The hem of the dress falls right at the top of my knees. I wear lots of bright colors so of course I have this dress in the bright pink. This fabric is solid pink and is fairly bright. It is not really a traditional color that I think of when I think of vintage dresses, but I really love it. It is very versatile. It can be worn with black, white, or pink shoes. With the neckline you can wear a variety of necklaces. It is really comfortable. I can happily wear this dress all day. It would be great for a date night, a themed party, or family photos. This dress is a great price and the quality is just as good as more expensive retro style dresses I have bought.

I kept the dress a secret from my husband and did a fun photo shoot as an anniversary gift for him. I wore hot pink heels with it. I had the pictures taken at a local museum that has military aircraft, tanks, and other vehicles. I got some great retro pinup inspired photos. This dress made a classy and sexy outfit without being overly exposed. My husband loves the photos and the dress.

Window Garden Bottoms Up Planter Kit

I love having plants around the house. I am always looking for ways to bring some greenery in. I especially love having herbs close by so I can grab what I need while I am cooking. This Window Garden Bottoms Up Planter Kit is perfect for a small herb plant. I put a purple basil plant in it. So far my basil is doing well. I have found that light can be a major factor in whether or not plants will do well in these containers. You should also pay attention to how much water a plant likes. Because this pot gives it constant water, unless you forget to refill it for a long time, some plants will get water logged and get root rot. I could tell my plant needed more light when the leaves started falling off. I have since moved my planter and it is doing well and has new growth.

This planter is really easy to set up. It comes with the planter, a plastic ring, that holds everything in place, and a plastic thing that reminds me of plastic canvas. It, also, has a plastic arm with two suction cups, a wire hanger and an S hook. The S hook fits into a small hole on the arm and allows you to hook one loop of the wire on it. The other end of the wire can be hooked onto the hook on the “bottom” of the pot. The suction cups are awesome. I was a little afraid they would not stay up well, but they hold really, really tightly to the clean window. There are two little alcohol wipes that you can use to clean the window and the suction cups. When I put this on the window the first time it was too low and I needed to move it. I had a heck of a time prying it off the window to re-apply it higher.

There is one small disc of soil that is included. This soil disc can be submerged in water and it expands and fluffs up. Once your soil is ready you can grab your plant and put it in and put the soil with it. The little soil disc was more than enough with the soil already attached to the root ball of my basil plant.

Then, you put the plastic canvas like thing around the stem of your plant. I was worried that even with this the dirt would fall out, but I have not had any soil leak out. On top of the plastic canvas you put the plastic ring in and turn it to the locked position. When you have it locked you can attach the wire to the bottom of the pot and hang it upside down. On the pot there is a little green piece. This is the water level indicator. To water your plant, you slowly pour water into the “bottom” of the pot near the green water level indicator. As you add water you can watch the water level indicator go up. This soil does not have any nutrients in it so I do recommend using some type of liquid fertilizer or compost tea in it.

I love this planter. I think having a whole window full of them hanging at different levels would be really cool. You could make an entire hanging herb garden.
